What the checker covers.
One SELECT query with a FROM clause, DISTINCT, column aliases, comma-separated tables, INNER or LEFT joins, WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING and ORDER BY. Expressions include arithmetic, comparisons, AND / OR / NOT, IS NULL, IN lists, BETWEEN, LIKE and ? parameters.
Checked function calls: COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, UPPER, LOWER, LTRIM, RTRIM, TRIM, LEFT, RIGHT, SUBSTR, SUBSTRING, CHR, SPACE and STRVAL.
Subqueries, UNION, CASE, CAST, pagination, other functions and comment compatibility are marked not checked. These may be valid in FileMaker. You can still format supported token notation.
Syntax is the first check.
This is a limited syntax checker, not a database connection or a complete FileMaker SQL validator. A pass does not verify table occurrences, fields, aliases resolving to real fields, data types, date values, aggregation rules, access privileges, performance or results.
Use double quotes for identifiers such as "Last Name", single quotes for text such as 'London', and ? for parameter values. ExecuteSQL supports SELECT queries; it does not modify records or schema.
Check the result in FileMaker’s Data Viewer. For detailed runtime errors, consult Claris ExecuteSQLe help.
From a query to a calculation.
Choose Try sample to see contacts filtered by city. After supported syntax checks pass, choose Create ExecuteSQL template. Double quotes and backslashes are escaped for a FileMaker string, and each ? receives a numbered parameter variable.
Set $sqlParam1 to a city such as London before evaluating the example, or replace it with your own field or variable. Quoted question marks remain literal text. This tool never executes the query.

Your query stays with you.
SQL is processed in this tab. We count page loads using the page address and a broad referral category, with separate approximate country and device totals. These are aggregate counts, not unique visitors. SQL text, results and clipboard contents are never included. There is no content upload, remote error reporting or saved query history.
Clear removes input, output and the template. Reloading starts fresh. Clipboard copies and downloaded files remain under your control. Browser privacy signals and the site’s analytics-off preference disable visit counting. The preference is saved locally; your SQL is not.
