FileMaker Data API find builder
Build include and omit requests, sort fields and pagination. Generate REST JSON or a native FileMaker Data API request without contacting a server.
Works in your browser. No account, uploaded inputs or saved work.
Build a focused find.
Criteria inside a request use AND. Include requests use OR; omit requests exclude matching records. Enter FileMaker find syntax directly: ==Active for exact text, >100 for a range comparison, or = for empty values.
Review before running.
From criteria to a checked request.
- Use a dedicated layout in a practice file. Confirm its table context, fields and the account’s access.
- Choose REST for a hosted HTTP request, or the native step for work inside the current FileMaker file. The native step requires FileMaker 19 or later.
- Start with one known record. The worked example combines active contacts in London or Paris, then omits DoNotContact records. Replace its names with fields in your file.
- Build, inspect and copy the output. REST credentials belong in your API client, not this page. The native output includes a calculation that returns the request JSON.
- Check HTTP status where applicable, the response’s messages and returned record IDs. Page through results using a suitable offset and limit.
This builder supports base-table criteria and sorting only. It does not verify your schema, validate find operators, send requests or configure access. It omits portals, script hooks and response-layout overrides. Date criteria depend on your file’s interpretation. Global fields are not supported find criteria. Builder limits are not FileMaker product limits.

Filesoft counts page loads and selected button clicks in aggregate. Your criteria, error searches and colors are not included. Browser privacy signals and the analytics-off preference disable these counts.
